I'm suggesting we train new referee's to learn how to do the actual process of reffing before they ref on their own. This would only apply to those who aren't refs currently. Current Refs even those inactive would not need training but I'm sure if they wanted help we'd be happy to help them. Due to the increase in active members we could definitely use more refs but we also need to make sure those refs are comfortable reffing and they know what they're doing. We could do this through both moc-rps and actual RPs until both the trainer and the new ref feel ready to let the new ref referee on their own.

Eh, I'm not too sure on the matter now that it does say "after they pass the test." I do like he way things are, but I can see an advantage to this. Perhaps there could be a "dummy" that we refs use to train the new ref in in a practice room once they've passed the test, but even that takes up time that the refs use to ref others. I'll just keep my vote out until I've thought about it since I can see advantages and disadvantages.

I admit you do a raise a good point but the reason why I'm suggesting this is because we'll have people take the ref test and then just don't ref because they don't feel comfortable reffing on their own and I don't blame them. I was extremely nervous trying to get used to reffing and I still get a little nervous sometimes. Taking time away from when refs could be reffing is an issue but I think it's worth taking a little time to get refs more comfortable so that way we can have more. I guess one way to look at the ref test is to look at it like a job interview and then you train the person to do the job after so they're comfortable and know what they're doing. I know reffing isn't actually a job but in a way it kind of is. I appreciate the feedback and I'll keep it all in mind incase the idea gets approved.
