GUIDE ON HOW TO RP WITHOUT A REFEREE!!
~Traveling With Me Myself and I... well, and my totodile too...~
At times, referees aren't always available. This can be frustrating for new people and even folks that have been here. It's awkward when you don't know when their next RP session will be... but luckily that doesn't mean you can't RP! Snag a friend or two and it's off to roleplaying for you!
Basic Rules Of Thumb:
* When traveling, understand how traveling through locations work through mibbit. ( **click here for more info** )
[ Here are the maps and the locations. This will help you with what connects where: **click here** ]
* Make sure you have created a character on the site FIRST before doing this. We don't allow random people to show up and not have a way to save their data.
* Speak in third person. Do NOT say 'Me, I, You'. It's awkward to do so because it looks strange to other players that might be in the same area as you.
* Roleplay with other people, don't talk to yourself in a chat room. It's weird. Invite other to RP with you when you do this!
* All of the rules still apply, don't break any of them. You could be at risk of a warning or getting banned if doing so.
Pros:
* You can RP anytime you so choose to!
I mean let's face it, referees aren't always there in mibbit. If you really want to roleplay without us, get a group of friends in the same area as you or plan to get into the same location in some sort of way.
* I never liked to battle anyway!
Well, this is just for you then! Who needs a referee if you aren't worried about battling 90% of the time. Of course if you wanted to gain experience you could easily snag a referee for that. This is the perfect setup for those who don't enjoy battling and competition as much.
* You can still RP battles!
This is great for creative folks who enjoy traveling and having battles just as interesting as referee battles, but of course you can take your time with this. Instead of the fast paced realistic style when battling other NPCs and real players out there. Of course there is a con to this if you go down a little further...
* You can buy, sell, and use your money
This is a privilege we are giving you guys. We think you are responsible enough to manage your money. However, if we catch you gaining things that you are strangely obtaining that are worth more than your money's worth...you will be banned.
Cons:
* Even though you can battle, your pokemon don't gain EXP or new moves!
This rule is in place because the battling isn't just make up kind of stuff. You actually have to fight as you would in real life and time your moves right. Referees aren't here for no reason, they hold a purpose for why the site even exists. It's to give you a fun experience during your battles and rewards for doing them. Don't like it, then maybe you should think about not making your character into a pokemon trainer...
* It would be pretty awkward talking to yourself...
Make sure you are RPing with other people. Of course, we aren't stopping you if you want to talk to yourself for two hours straight...but it's just weird. Don't do it!
* You cannot catch pokemon
As much as this rule seems farfetched, it makes complete sense. We don't want people running around catching whatever they desire. They have to first encounter them through chance. Once again, referees are here to handle that and it wouldn't be fair to get your dream team in less time than people who actually rely on referees.
* No legendary encounters
This is a big one. Here on pokeadv the moderators, admins, and referees control encounters with legendaries through plots and stories. Don't even attempt this because it will not be allowed. Trust us.
And that's it!!
Please make sure you aren't cheating either... if any of the staff members catch you taking items, money, or anything that you could never obtain in the first place, we will ban or even boot you from the site. Don't be that person we have to punish!
